This event has been discussed already. However.
I find it very unfair that Female members of the regiment cannot take part as a fusilier except for on the Battlefeild.
This means No walking around the event dressed as a fusilier and no drilling with the regiment. Does English Herratage not realise this is very close to Gender discrimination, IF Not Gender Discrimination already. Their argument is basicaly no crossdressing because its not authentic for the Periods. Imagine another scenario(sp) If we had a black member in the 21eme then it wouldn't be authentic for the period he/she would have to be a musician or in an overseas regiment. Mustaches aren't authentic for line fusiliers but its allowed as beards aren't. It really amazes me in this day and age that a persons gender is still an issue in re-enactment today. We went through this 15-20 years ago. Its about time English Heritage Evolved or there might be somebody one day who'll take them to court. James( Very annoyed)
PS Can anyone lend Rach a skirt.

I am wondering how they are going to
enforce this discrimination anyway -
are all fusileers required to parade
in front of the organisers with no
clothes on at 6.30 each morning ????

What a horrid thought after a heavy night of drinking.
Keith have you removed a comment?

Yes I removed a comment.

I think this subject needs further discussion within the Regiment to develop a policy for the future.

I agree, though i think any discussion over the internet should be on a secure basis and not open to the public. I think we should also be mindful of the 'Law of unintended consequences' and any agreed policy be subject to review after events to ensure it is fit for purpose.
