How should we skirmish? Ideally we could do with Marshal Davout's thoughts and standing orders on the subject. Failing that we have to piece together, as do all French reenactment units, skirmish from other sources.

Its a good site. Ive had a quick look and the end result seems similar to what we have been doing but with lesser spacings and some different words of command.

Its all good though!

I've just 'cut and paste' it so its now on file for printing. I'll study it hard.

The 1830 Drill book I have has slight variations, no mention of numbering the men for firing etc.

Any other info or ideas on skirmishing would be appreciated.

Is this the drill the 9e legere use? We could maybe contact Martin Lancaster and ask him.
I'm not sure there will be many events we will use it as we sometimes are the only French infantry.
I personally like it as it gives us another option and a little variation, also the Lads like skirmishing.
I'm sure we could do it during our 2hours drill just depends on Chris(P)and Richard though.
I thought it looked good at Dorchester and worked really well.
